Tips How to Make Your Holiday Cheaper

Labels:
There are many ways that you can cut down on spending whilst actually on holiday. Self catering generally works out cheaper than half board but check out the cost of all-inclusive especially if you have children. There is nothing more frustrating than the kids refusing to eat a meal that you have just paid for.

Work out before you go exactly what you want from the holiday. If you want the sun, then you should really aim for going abroad unless you want to chance the weather in the UK. If you are looking for a sightseeing trip on a budget, look at some of the more remote places in England, Scotland and Wales.

There are very few people who have travelled the length and breadth of the country and seen what there is to offer. If you are looking for adventure, check out places such as Center Parcs or other activity centres domestically. Look for the cheapest accommodation and if you can, try and holiday out of season.

If you are travelling abroad, arrange for a friend to drop you at the airport in return for you doing the same favour when needed. This will save on parking expenses or taxi fares.

If you are abroad and want to shop for groceries, check out where the locals shop. It will generally be cheaper. Also one very good way to save money is checking out the local bus services, rather than hire a car or take taxis.

Eating out and excursions are the two main costs on holiday. Avoid obvious tourist areas and chat with the locals to see where they eat. If you are in a family, order a variety of dishes so that there is always something for everyone. Order a jug of water - if you want alcohol, then buy it from the supermarket and drink it at leisure when you get home.

If you want to see the sights but the kids are reluctant to be dragged around, then sightsee alone. It will be cheaper and much more satisfying.
